My enthusiasm and practical knowledge of old locks was nurtured over 10 years ago while learning alongside Ken Pemberton. A local locksmith and metal worker who had a great knowledge and understanding of old locks who for years cared for local church and domestic locks passing on his skills and experience before he retired.
I attended the General Locksmith course and gained specific heritage lock guidance from the Master Locksmiths Association, making every effort to repair a lock keeping its originality and integrity intact.
I started adapting period keys to refurbished old locks amassing a large stock to select from. I endeavour to put a key to or restore a lock whatever its condition.
I take every opportunity to continue understanding and gaining practical experience with all types of period locks.
By taking over much of the key blank stock and machinery of an antique lock restoration business of 30 years standing I am able to cut, file & turn keys in most circumstances.
